Wat Pho, (officially known as Wat Phra Chettuphon Wimon Mangkhlaram Ratchaworamahawihan) is one of the largest temples in Bangkok and is home to more than one thousand Buddha images, including the famed Reclining Buddha that measure 46 metres long. The Reclining Buddha is the largest and most intricate image of Buddha in the reclining position, found in Thailand. Mother of pearl inlay the feet in Thai-Chinese style, indicated by 108 auspicious signs portraying natural scenes of both Indian and Chinese influence.
Wat Pho was also the first public university in Thailand specialising in religion, science and literature. It is well known as the birthplace for traditional Thai massage and medicine, presently offering courses in Thai Pharmacy, Medical Practice, Midwifery and Massage.
Children of all ages will enjoy exploring the grandeur of this complex, as well as relaxing in the gardened area by the river pier. If time permits, parents can escape the heat for a traditional Thai massage in Wat Pho. For further information and pricing visit http://www.watpomassage.com
