Where to “Swim & Dine” in Bangkok

Get some relief from the heat and spend some time swimming (and dining) at these 7 family-friendly venues!

1. Mélangé

This homey restaurant in Ekamai Soi 10 is a hit with families, providing lots of international and Thai menu options as well as use of a pool, patio and small garden with play equipment. The restaurant and pool are open every day from 8am onwards. Stay all day if you like!

2. Charcoal Tandoor Grill & Mixology

Featuring a special brunch on Sundays, Charcoal offers great Indian food (and an ample selection of creative cocktails for parents) in an ultra-stylish setting. Even better, an outdoor pool area is available for patrons – swim and nosh on kebabs and other flavourful fare! Located on the 5th floor of Fraser Suites Sukhumvit Soi 11.

3. Flow House

Watch the kids (ages 6 and up) learn to flowboard, while you have a drink or meal at the open-aired restaurant and bar. Qualified pros are on hand to provide instruction as well as ensure safety. Also, younger siblings can play in a small on-site pool free of charge. Located in Sukhumvit 26, the facility opens at 10am; reservations for flowboard sessions are strongly recommended.

4. Swissotel Nai Lert Park

Amidst lush gardens, with old growth trees and a huge variety of tropical plants, the free form swimming pool of Swissotel Nai Lert Park is truly an oasis in the middle of bustling Bangkok. Open from 7am to 8pm, outside guests are welcome to swim and dine at their leisure. The fee is 642 baht net for adults and 428 baht net for kids up to 8 years in age.

5. Sofitel Sukhumvit

Located on the 9th floor, the inviting pool of Sofitel Sukhumvit is surrounded by an open-air deck and sun loungers. Get the family here for a refreshing dip, followed by cool drinks and light bites. Open from 6am to 10pm, the cost for outside guests is 600 baht net per adult and 300 baht net per child (the cost for two or more children is negotiable – call to enquire or book in advance).

6. Okura Prestige

With an amazing 25-metre cantilevered pool, families can spend the whole day here – unlike other hotels, Okura allows you to leave and return at your leisure as long as it’s within the same day. Open from 6am to 10pm, the rate for daily pool usage is 824 baht net per person.

7. Chartrium Riverside

Situated by the Chao Phraya River, Chatrium Riverside offers great views by their 35-metre infinity pool. Relax, swim and enjoy sips and snacks from the Pool Bar. There’s also an outdoor Jacuzzi and two kids’ pools. Open from 6am to 8pm, the cost for pool use is 642 baht net per adult, and 321 baht net per child (ages 4 to 12).
