Play is the natural world of the child. Children learn about themselves, others and their world through play. They learn to communicate and to develop mastery that leads to a sense of efficacy and competence, as well as a development of creative thinking and empathy.
Play Therapy thus uses the power of play to help children achieve optimal growth and development, and also prevents and resolves a wide range of developmental and emotional difficulties. Play Therapy is a great communication tool for children and adolescents to express themselves, and it is an effective approach to use in order to make children feel understood and accepted, since they often have difficulties describing their problems and feelings.
Many schools, teachers, and parents in Thailand are seeing the importance of Play Therapy, and there are a growing number of demands for a Therapeutic Play Skills Practitioner in Thailand.
In 2020, Play Therapy Thailand is thus offering a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills in Bangkok, which teaches participants how to work with children therapeutically to improve their emotional wellbeing using play and other creative media. It’s ideal for anyone who works with children, wants to work with children, or is interested in becoming a Therapeutic Play Practitioner. The course is also an opportunity for career advancement, to be certified to conduct therapeutic play for children.
Specifically, the Certificate is accredited by The UK Department of Health and the UK Professional Standards Authority and includes membership in the Accredited Register. The course is under Play Therapy UK and is delivered by the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (APAC)
