The Social Impact Award: Empowering Students to Make a Difference

Social Impact Award logo

The Social Impact Schools Award recognises the dedication of schools and their students in having a positive impact on the world. REGISTER HERE

The Social Impact Schools Award, created by SuperKind.Org, helps schools to foster a culture of social action and recognises schools who have done so effectively. Designed by teachers for teachers, the award is an accessible and flexible program that integrates social responsibility into the school curriculum while celebrating teachers and students’ efforts to create positive change.

How the Award Works

To achieve the award schools must log an average of one social action per student across the school year. Social actions can vary widely, from fundraising for charitable causes to local community initiatives such as litter-picking or caroling in care homes. As part of their registration schools receive access to heaps of monthly classroom resources—including lesson/assembly plans and worksheets—tailored to primary and secondary schools. Additionally, participating schools benefit from a 1:1 consultancy call at the outset to help discuss how the resources can align with and enhance the schools’ existing initiatives.

Why Schools Love it

The award is more than just recognition—it drives tangible change within school communities. For instance, Harrow Lodge Primary School shared that “Thanks to SuperKind, we’re thinking more about how we can broaden our impact and move beyond ‘Bring in £1 for non-uniform day’. We are inspired to take bigger and bolder actions”.

By encouraging students to reflect on global and local issues, the award also nurtures important personal values and skills like resilience, empathy, and leadership. Teachers report noticeable improvements in student behavior and enthusiasm as they take ownership of their social contributions.

A Path to Lifelong Social Responsibility

SuperKind’s resources also include inspiring stories of young change-makers and practical toolkits for student-led clubs, aiming to cultivate a lifelong habit of social action. This aligns with the award’s mission to make students not just participants but proactive agents of change in their communities.

In addition to fostering personal development, the award offers formal recognition that appeals to students, parents, and inspectors, enhancing a school’s reputation as a socially responsible institution.
