Thailand International Balloon Festival 2018

balloons

Thailand International Balloon Festival will be held on March 2-4, 2018 in Chiang Mai, at the Cowboy Army Riding Club. This year, the festival marks its 10th anniversary, so there will be plenty of special attractions, live music, and activities for the whole family.

Lots to See and Do

Against the backdrop of the mountains and Doi Suthep, hot air balloons will drift through the air. One of the main highlights will be the balloons’ glow that will decorate the sky at night. The glow will be synchronized with specially composed music with the debut performance of the “The Tiger Drum and Opera” by Lanna Orchestra.

Other performances include German opera singer Thomas Kiessling, who will be joining popular Thai singer Pe’ Kamonporn in performing La Vie En Rose in a duet battle of the stars; ‘SPLASH’, which fuses Flamenco and Lanna Contemporary Dance, and more.

Top hotels and restaurants in Chiang Mai will be providing the food. Thai celebrity chef Som Chanakarn will also be putting on quite a display. And for those who love coffee, there will also be a coffee carnival showcasing some of the best coffee that Thailand has on offer.

Other events include art exhibitions and workshops; Thai fashion and jewellry shows, including a rare traditional craft from villagers in the Sop Moei district of the Mae Hong Son province; and an International Heritage section with booths from India, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Germany and many others.

Where to Get Tickets

Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite and are 300 baht per adult for a single day. Tickets for children aged 7-12 years are 100 baht each. There is no admission fee for children under 7 years of age. Once you register online, you won’t need a paper ticket to enter (the event is fully digital this year). Also, vendors and visitors are asked to avoid using plastic and straws. Bring your own refillable bottle.
