School Spotlight: Chidlom, Ploenchit and Early Sukhumvit

As part of our focus on education, we are highlighting international schools, from pre-school to secondary school levels, in specific neighbourhoods of Bangkok. Below are the schools in Chidlom, Ploenchit and early Sukhumvit (up until Soi 4):

Mulberry House International Pre-School
Located in Soi Tonson on verdant grounds, Mulberry House offers children ages 2 to 6 an education based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Children progress through the goals of the Early Years through to the Foundation Stage and the Reception Year. Facilities encompass several classroom buildings, including a beautiful colonial-style house; a soft gym; swimming pool; and garden playground. There are also a range of after-school activities, such as art, ballet, Mandarin, Thai and taekwondo, among others.

Vipa’s Play Centre Nursery & Kindergarten
At the end of Ruamrudee Soi 3, Vipa’s Play Centre combines British and American curriculums for children ages 2 to 6, with a focus on learning through play. Having been around since 1959, Vipa’s is known for instilling independence and strong English-language abilities in its kids. With only about 50 to 60 students in the nursery and kindergarten classes, Vipa’s features a home-like atmosphere amid lovely gardens.

RC International School and Ruamrudee Learning Centre
Located in Ruamrudee Soi 1, RC International School follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, modified to meet the needs of international students, with about 150 students in its Early Years, Primary Years and Secondary Years (up to Year 7 or Key Stage 3) programmes. Apart from classrooms, facilities include a computer room, science lab, swimming pool, gymnasium, ballet and gymnastics room, and playground.

Storytime Preschool
Well away from the bustle of Sukhumvit Soi 4 in a homey atmosphere, Storytime (formerly known as Ploenchit International Kindergarten) is suited for children ages 18 months to 6 years. The school follows an American/International curriculum with a focus on creative play. Highlights are a large playground, small class sizes and extra activities, such as yoga, drama and piano lessons.

Topsy Turvy International School (The British School of Bangkok)
Located in Sukhumvit Soi 4, Topsy Turvy features a British based curriculum for children ages 2 to 11 years (up to Year 6 or Key Stage 2). The school provides a varied after-school programme, including ballet, drama, football, science, ESL, taekwondo, swimming, music and more. With sufficient demand, the school also offers foreign languages, such as Thai, French, Japanese, Chinese and Hindi, as an after-school activity.
