Just over 1.5 hours southeast of Bangkok, Rugby School Thailand (RST) offers 80-acres of space for children to learn in world-class facilities. COBIS recently recognised RST’s boarding school as “truly exceptional”, awarding them prestigious ‘Beacon Status’. It is this exceptional boarding experience that is enticing an increasing number of Bangkok families to choose weekly or full boarding at RST, swapping daily traffic for a more enriching school day.
What is Boarding?
Boarding is when your child sleeps at school, rather than travelling to and from home each day. RST has three purpose-built boarding houses, that give children a happy ‘home from home’ while they are staying at school. The School offers flexible boarding options to suit different family needs; part boarding is when families opt for 1-2 fixed nights per week, weekly boarding is when students stay at school from Sunday/Monday through to Friday, and full boarding is when students stay at school for 7 nights a week, with the exception of ‘exeat’ weekends and half term /term breaks.
What Do Borders in the Evenings and at Weekends?
Evening and weekend activities are a particular highlight for our boarders, with a varied programme according to age and interests. For Prep School boarders this can include everything from face painting and slime-making to digital drawing, cookery, capture the flag and much more. For the older boarders in Senior School, there is more of a focus on extending study and tutor time, in addition to unstructured leisure time where they make use of fantastic facilities such as the fitness suite.
Why Choose Boarding?
Boarding is an excellent way for children to experience Rugby School’s holistic education in the fullest sense. Boarding life is dynamic, fun, active and challenging (in the best way!). Boarders can participate in extra activities, use the School facilities and access staff expertise to develop further academically. Expert boarding staff support physical and emotional wellbeing, whilst also encouraging confidence, independence and resilience, amongst other valuable traits. Senior School boarders leave with great levels of independence to start university.
Weekly boarding is a very popular option for families within a couple of hours of RST, as it allows children to experience all the benefits of a large countryside school campus and immerse themselves fully in school life during the week.
Rugby School Thailand
RST is a co-educational, international school for day and boarding students aged 2-18 (boarding is available from aged 10 years up). The School follows the British curriculum with students taking IGCSE and A Level examinations, the gold standard for university entrance worldwide.
Academic excellence lies at the heart of the experience, but this is underpinned by the School’s mantra “the whole person, the whole point”. Smaller classes and longer days integrate sport, and an award-winning co-curricular programme, to nurture its students into resilient, reflective, versatile, globally-minded, thinkers and collaborators.
