KIS International School welcomes a new Head of School in the celebration of their 25th anniversary.
Dr. Carolyn is a passionate educator with over 20 years of experience as a teacher and leader. In her most recent role as Head of School at Qatar Sidra Academy, Carolyn implemented a personalized learning pathway that guided students to graduation by enabling them to follow their passions, supported cross-school safeguarding, child protection and wellbeing programmes, and strengthened the inclusion, equity and diversity offerings for the community.
Her doctoral study at Atlantic University was in research and how to support teachers with curriculum development to better support student learning. Her Master’s Degree from The Open University in the UK was focused on both education and linguistics, leading to an additional qualification in special education with a focus on language development and dyslexia.
Carolyn is originally from the UK and has also resided in the USA, Ghana, and Qatar.
She has also supported the University of Western Ontario in developing and establishing a teacher development program aligned with and accredited by the IBO.
On her new role at KIS, Dr. Carolyn shared:
“It is my mission as an educational leader to build, maintain and develop the systems and curriculum that facilitate, enable, and inspire students and teachers to achieve their academic and personal potential. In my new role as Head of School at KIS International School Bangkok, I am eager to collaborate with a diverse and talented team of educators to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Together, we will foster a culture of excellence and empower students to become lifelong learners and global citizens. With a passion for educational innovation and a commitment to fostering inclusive practices, I am dedicated to ensuring every student’s success and well-being.”
Carolyn is joined in Bangkok by her husband, Gary Craggs, who is also an experienced educator, specializing in the IB Diploma Programme and school inspection.
Dr. Carolyn is eager to cultivate a school environment that celebrates diversity, embraces creativity, and instills a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. Student learning is at the center of everything we do.
In her first month at Head of School, Dr. Carolyn has already traveled with students discovering the Markets of Chatuchak, exploring the EY2 butterfly garden, joined classes in every grade level and participated in multiple morning coffees with parents. She has enjoyed being able to be involved in the extra-curricular activity program, and sharing the delight of students who are empowered to drive forward change through taking action on a number of issues that impact the community.
She is eager to celebrate the KIS milestone Jubilee in recognition of 25 years of academic excellence, as well as continuing the tradition of inspiring individuals.
