Nestled in the heart of Bangkok, NIST International School has been nurturing global citizens since 1992. Founded by a passionate community of international families, NIST has evolved into a celebrated institution known for its holistic education and vibrant diversity.
NIST’s educational approach combines the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum—including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP)—with service learning, outdoor expeditions, and diverse extracurricular activities. This blend challenges students to think critically, creatively, and independently while engaging with real-world issues, fostering a mindset of global citizenship, leadership, and resilience.
Service learning is central to NIST’s mission to empower students as global citizens. Starting in Year 3, students participate in impactful projects through four Elementary Service Projects and 37 Secondary Service Groups, encouraging meaningful contributions to their communities. Through these initiatives, students broaden their perspectives as systems thinkers and establish local and global partnerships, contributing to a sustainable future. The Expedition component of the NIST Learning Programme further supports this growth, offering age-appropriate outdoor education that reinforces experiential learning and builds confidence.
With over 93 nationalities represented, NIST is a vibrant hub of cultural exchange. The school supports more than 12 home languages, celebrates diverse cultural festivals, and fosters international collaborations that deepen students’ appreciation for diversity. This commitment to intercultural understanding is further reflected in NIST’s status as one of only 10 schools worldwide offering the Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) alongside the IB Diploma. The GCD, available to secondary students in Years 10-13, recognises growth beyond the classroom, supporting student development as engaged, responsible global citizens.
NIST’s comprehensive approach to education reaches its pinnacle in the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), which is highly regarded by universities worldwide. In addition to a rigorous curriculum, students develop essential skills through extended research, critical thinking in the Theory of Knowledge, and practical life skills through the CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service) programme.
NIST’s commitment to excellence shines through in the IB results of the Class of 2024. Top achievers scored a perfect 45 points, with 29% achieving 40 points or higher, and 55% earning the prestigious Bilingual IB Diploma. Collectively, these graduates received 416 university offers across 19 countries, reflecting their readiness to make a global impact.
As a not-for-profit school, NIST invests back into the school community, enhancing the educational experience and upgrading facilities. A new reception building, the Pavilion, is opening in January 2024, followed by two state-of-the-art elementary buildings. These modern additions will further provide an inspiring, sustainable learning environment that equips students for future success.
Through a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic community, NIST International School is shaping the future, one student at a time.
