For those who enjoy engaging in craft activities with their kids, check out Décor Craft Studio in Sukhumvit 33. This bright, inviting space features a variety of hands-on activities for both kids and adults, including private cooking and cookie decorating classes, as well as handicraft sessions such as decoupage and ceramic décor.
Started two years ago by Hiromi Takikawa, Décor Craft reflects a love for handmade items, and the studio sports many beautiful displays of their various creations. Friendly and skilled teachers facilitate classes in English or Japanese. Décor Craft also serves as a small community space – visitors can drop in to buy a handmade gift, have some refreshments or take a walk-in workshop or class. Parents can also host children’s birthday parties here.
Currently, English-language classes are mostly on-demand and conducted as free-style lessons, meaning you can choose the project of your choice and an instructor will guide you through the creation process. Suited for 2 to 3 students, including children and adults, each lesson takes roughly two hours. The cost is 800 to 900 baht per lesson, plus the project materials of your choice. Every additional 30 minutes is charged at 200 baht.
The ideal age for kids is 6 years old and up. Some activities, such as decoupage, require cutting out intricate images from paper napkins or fabric with scissors, as well as the use of delicate motions to brush the images with Mod Podge*, a non-toxic glue, sealer and finish. Nonetheless, kids under 6 can still join the fun with the help of an accompanying adult.

*Décor Craft Studio also sells a large variety of Mod Podge for home craft projects.
