Fun for All Ages
The event promises to be a vibrant and colorful carnival with spectacular circus acts, dance shows and magic shows performed around the restaurant by the talented artists of Spark Circus and Thai Circus. Meanwhile, Chocolate Ville’s kitchen will run as usual, serving up an array of delicious local and international favorites. There will also be games booths and a lucky dip for prizes donated by sponsors, including restaurant and hotel vouchers, making the evening filled with entertainment for people of all ages.
Help Support Disadvantaged Communities
Through this event, the funds raised will help communities in the Mae Sot (Thai-Myanmar border) area. Spark Circus primarily works alongside an NGO called Help Without Frontiers, which provides support along the border to displaced people, most of whom are children and youth, who find themselves in emergency situations. Spark Circus also works with communities that are not aided by any NGOs. This year Spark Circus will be building a Bamboo Circus School where they will be running circus workshops and where people from the community whom they have taught will eventually become the teachers. Money raised from food sales, lucky dip sales, games and donation collection will go towards building this school.
Coming Together for Worthwhile Causes
Chocolate Ville is a large outdoor restaurant, designed to look like an old European village, complete with a lighthouse, cottages and ducks swimming in the lake. It spans over 16 rai of land and has a seating capacity of over 2,000. As soon as the doors open, tourists, locals and expats flood in to take photos and enjoy the European vibe. The menu is a fusion of Thai and Western dishes, catering to a wide range of taste buds. Since its opening in 2011, it has been one of the top recommended places to visit in Bangkok.
Spark Circus is a not-for-profit organization that employs skilled circus performers from around the globe. Their vision is to bring the joy and healing of play and creative self-discovery to disadvantaged groups of children and youth through running workshops to teach circus skills as well as through performing shows. The youth are mainly refugees, migrants, impoverished, disabled or ill in the Mae Sot area. Their programs are funded through grants and international fund-raising campaigns and events. This year they will have a German Wheel performer and a Hip hop dancer joining their team.
