1. Indulge the need for speed at Easy Kart.
One of the largest indoor tracks in Asia, Easy Kart embodies the adrenaline packed racing experience, sporting high-tech tracks and high-performance go karts. Packages include tournament style races or F1 style races with warm ups, qualifying laps, a final race, a podium and trophy for the winner. Minimum driving age is 8.
2. Ride the waves at Flow House Bangkok
Treat your kid to a day riding the Double FlowRider, which offers a combination of surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding and various other boarding-type activities. First timers get plenty of instruction. Young riders need to be over 107cm (42″) to Bodyboard and 133cm (52″) to Flowboard.
3. Go urban biking at Peppermint Bike Park
Grab your recreational or mountain bikes (or rent them at the park) and test your skills on two paths, an asphalt-paved urban course and a more challenging mountain bike course. The distance of the paved path is about one kilometre, but riders can enjoy several laps, alternating between the two courses.
4. Play on the water at Taco Lake Cable Wake Park
Discover wakeboarding, wakeskating, kneeboarding and water skiing on this large freshwater pond. Suitable for both novice and expert riders (pre-teens to adults), Taco Lake’s full circuit cable system enables up to eight riders at once, with a series of ramps, obstacles and thrilling 90 degree turns.
5. Build robots at Kids Robotics Learning Centre
Take Lego to a whole new level by designing, building, programming and testing robots at a Lego Mindstroms Robotics Course. Kids get to work together on guided and open-ended engineering projects, using the programmable NXT Brick, on-brick programming and data logging, interactive servo motors, and ultrasonic, sound, light and touch sensors.
6. Make a splash at Cartoon Network Amazone
Around a 90-minute drive from Bangkok, the world’s first ever Cartoon Network-themed waterpark houses 30 different waterslides, 10 entertainment zones and a 30,000 gallon wave pool. Prepare to spend the entire day here!
7. Nurture an artistic bent at Paron School of Art
For a quieter activity, check out this cheerful, cosy Ekamai studio where classes are personally led by Paron Mead. There are many offerings well suited for 7 to 18 year old artists. Get in touch to arrange a tour of the studio or find out about upcoming classes.
8. Solve a mystery at Escape Hunt Bangkok
This live game takes you back 100 years in time to play the part of a famous London detective solving mysteries set in an old Bangkok house. Players explore rooms with objects while searching for clues, figuring out puzzles and finding their ultimate escape.
9. Snag big fish at Bungsamran
Spend a day at this lake and fish from the boardwalk in the centre or rent a lakeside fishing bungalow. Show your mettle against formidable creatures, such as Mekong giant catfish, giant Siamese carp and giant gourami.
10. Learn about Bangkok’s history at Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall
With nine halls spanning over 4,800 square metres, this museum employs multimedia and interactive technologies to convey the history and character of the Rattanakosin era. A fabulous feature includes a panoramic presentation of traditional entertainment spectacles and performances. Kids also get to watch Ramakien animation, learn khon (Thai masked dance) gestures and try their hands at manoeuvring puppets.
