Nestled in Phrom Phong’s labyrinth of sois, The Pikture Gallery is located (just about) within walking distance from the top of Sukhumvit 49. On the third floor of the Elysian Tea House, this bright and cosy space serves as an exhibition, framing and photography service all in one. Exhibitions are held monthly and display a wide range of themes: from paintings to contemporary photography by both local and international artists.
The Gallery also offers diverse workshops such as art in basic form, still life, on oil canvas, sculpture, and photography. Offerings for children include two art workshops: one for ages 3.6 to 12 years and the other for ages 7 to 10 years. The former focuses on arts and crafts, exploring various mediums; everyone is welcome and classes range in skill sets with the aim of finding inspiration from everyday things and getting students to express their moods and feelings through art. The latter, on the other hand, introduces children to more formal art techniques.
Group classes run regularly every weekend, from 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm, for a total of 8 sessions. Weekday group classes as well as private sessions can be scheduled by appointment. The cost is 5,000 to 5,500 baht per course, including all art materials. Each class is limited to small groups of 3 to 7 students. In any case, English, Thai, and Japanese speaking students need not worry as classes can be offered in any of the three languages.
Kids love new creative projects so whether they’re art prodigies or just having fun, the Pikture Gallery can serve up a healthy dose of art, which is always good for the soul. For more information, drop by or visit www.thepikturegallery.com.
