Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, also known as the Summer Palace, is a royal complex on the Chao Phraya River in Ayutthaya Province. Initially constructed in 1632 and subsequently developed or restored by various kings, the facilities encompass huge gardens and structures, including Wehart Chamrunt (‘Heavenly Light’), a Chinese-style royal palace and throne room; the Warophat Phiman (‘Excellent and Shining Heavenly Abode’), a royal residence; Ho Withun Thasana (‘Sages’ Lookout’), lookout tower; and the Aisawan Thiphya-Art (‘Divine Seat of Personal Freedom’), a pavilion constructed in the middle of a pond. Today, the palace remains largely open to visitors, as the royal family only uses the compound on rare occasions.
The palace is a wonderful place for exploration, and the entire family will enjoy its exquisite structures; beautifully manicured grounds, including animal-shaped topiaries; and peaceful feel. Golf carts are available for hire.
