Ahoy, fellow book enthusiasts! Dive into the literary delights of this unique literary experience as you board the floating book fair gracing Khlong Toey’s Bangkok Port this November, not only does it tick the novelty factor for kids but they have a great selection of kids books on offer. Cruise through the pages on board and add to your collection until November 26th.
This is a fascinating event for Bangkok as the world’s largest floating bookstore, currently anchored in Klong Toey port, sails into Thailand for the first time. We’re talking about the MV Doulos Hope, a former cruise ship that has been transformed into a floating bookstore, journeying from one nation to another.
The Doulas Hope welcomes visitors from 2 pm to 9 pm every day except Mondays. Entry is a mere 30 baht, and you can even secure your spot online—an unexpected convenience. If you happen to drop by, a bit of patience will land you aboard the ship.
While the vessel boasts 3 to 4 floors, your destination is the 3rd floor, where the treasure trove of books awaits. Catering to all tastes, from children’s books to novels, puzzle books to cookbooks and more.
English is the language of choice, and prices are as enticing as the adventure. Children’s books range from 100 to 200 baht, novels from 200 to 300 baht, and here’s a heartwarming detail: a portion of the earnings goes to charity.
This is a visit-worthy spectacle, and children are welcome to join the literary voyage. Approach the main port entrance guards as you drive in, and they’ll navigate you through the fairly spacious parking area.
