Get Active at Get Growing Community Farm

wooden climbing equipment in a nature playground

My kids were super excited to finally go to Get Growing after hearing so much about their adventure playground and we were glad to get them unplugged from their devices and outside into nature. Get Growing is located in Bangkok’s ‘Green Lung’ across the river in Bang Kachao and it’s a seriously cool place for the kids to hang out for the day.

About Get Growing Community Farm

Get growing community farm is a relatively new farm and has been open since 2019, it’s definitely a fun place for family fun activities and a great day out of the big city. The farm is full of things to keep the kids busy and active, with a natural playground, allotment gardens and a place where you can just enjoy being outdoors. It’s so nice to see the kids using their imaginations and creating their own fun!

Keep The Kids Active

There are many different ways to keep the kids active and for them to challenge themselves and get out of their comfort zone, from climbing areas, zip lines and little rafts where they can pull themselves across the river. The highlight for us was the slide that literally allows the kids to go splashing through the mud on little mats, we had trouble getting the kids off this one and we saw a few adults enjoying the fun too! The one recommendation we would give, is to go prepared, as the kids get really dirty – but in a super fun way. Do bring your own towels , a spare set of clothes, swimsuits and shoes that you don’t mind the kids getting wet and muddy, think school camp attire.

It’s also a good idea to cover the kids in bug spray and sunscreen and remember to bring plenty of it as all the water fun washes it off, although the staff were really helpful in this respect and were offering us mosquito repellent at regular intervals.

Things To Consider If You Go

One thing we particularly liked was that they had thought of everything as far as what parents need for a family day out. They have changing rooms, western style toilets with showers (thankfully) and lockers which makes it so much easier when you have bags of towels and extra clothes for the little ones. We took lots of snacks and refillable water bottles for the kids but there is a small air conditioned cafe on-site as a respite from the heat. The free dinking water, where you can fill up the kids bottles throughout the day was a nice touch and we all agreed they would make a fortune if they sold ice lollies! We ate at the restaurant which was good value and not bad as far as activity cafes are concerned.

Essential Information

It’s also quite easy to get to. Take a boat from Khlong Toei Pier (20 baht pp, each way). Once you reach the other side of the river, it’s about 400m down the road, on the right (look for the giant Trojan horse, you can’t miss it). We rented bikes and did a picnic at the park too but you could easily walk there from the pier.

If you’re looking for something a little different to get the kids active and outdoors, then I would highly recommend you give this place a try, we will definitely go back.
