Where to get tested for COVID-19 in Bangkok

This isn’t a blog we expected to post given the fact we are approaching the Songkran holidays …..but as we value the feedback from our BKK Kids community we have decided to compile a list of places where, should you need to, get tested for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 virus situation has escalated rapidly since January 2020 and has now become a global threat to us all. The biggest concerns are by far for the elderly, the young and the immune suppressed amongst us. As Bangkok moves into a new normal and uncertain times, please consider checking on your elderly neighbours, be socially responsible for those who are already suffering with compromised immunity and practise and explain the theory of social distancing to your kids.

Remember to provide your kids with information about how to protect themselves. Promote the best hand washing and hygiene practices and supply them with hygiene supplies to keep in their bags. Clean and disinfect your home, especially water and sanitation facilities and try to increase the airflow and ventilation. Try to encourage your kids to ask questions and express their fears or concerns and above all monitor their health and act quickly should you suspect they become ill,

According to information obtained by Thai PBS, the charges made for an individual to be tested for COVID-19 infection vary from hospital to hospital.

Hospital                                   Price (Baht)

Chulalongkorn 3,000-6,000 Hotline +66 2 256 4000

Those who qualify as high-risk and have been in close contact with high-risk people, or who have just returned from high-risk countries and who have developed symptoms, such as a fever, a cough and runny nose, will not be charged if they report to state hospitals.

It also depends whether the hospitals are ready to conduct the tests. If not, the individual may be transferred to one of seven hospitals which are better equipped.

The seven hospitals and institutes which are capable of conducting the tests are:

  • Medical Science Faculty of Siriraj hospital
  • Medical Science Faculty of Chulalongkorn University
  • Medical Science Faculty of Prince of Songkhla University
  • Rajavithi Hospital
  • Bumrungrad Hospital
  • Bamrasnaradura Institute of Infectious Diseases
